The Muskoka Philharmonic Orchestra was founded in 2022, by wife and musician duo, Alana & Anna Nuedling.

Recognizing and responding to a desire for orchestral music in Muskoka, performed by local musicians for local audiences, the MPO project had its first rehearsal in November 2022, with 7 eager musicians in attendance.

The inaugural concert took place in June 2023. We have since steadily grown in membership, and are quickly becoming a beloved tradition in the local concert offerings.

The MPO is now in its second full season, presenting three concerts throughout the year across Muskoka.

Our membership is made up of intermediate to advanced orchestral musicians, mostly amateur with a few former professionals.

We are committed to offering our communities a variety of orchestral repertoire, from classical to modern. Working and collaborating with other local musicians, we strive to attract varied and diverse audiences , sharing our love of collective music making and enjoyment.

Alana Nuedling

Artistic Director & Conductor

Alana grew up in Muskoka and has been active in the music and arts community from an early age. She has a Performance Diploma (Cambrian College), an Honours BA in Music Education (Wilfrid Laurier University), a Bachelor of Education (Nipissing University) and is a Certified Life Coach (CLC Institute). Alana is a founding member and co-organizer of the Huntsville Festival of Music (HFA). As an educator, Alana worked in the public school system for 18 years, with a focus on music education. She now operates The Hive On East Elliott, with her wife Anna.

As a musician, Alana has been a member of brass and concert bands, as well as orchestras and pit bands. As Music Director, Alana has led choirs, bands, and pit orchestras.

She is proud to be the Artistic Director/Co-Founder of the Muskoka Philharmonic Orchestra (2022) and newly formed Rock Singers (of Muskoka). Alana is honoured to be leading this passionate group of musicians who share her love of collaboration, growth, and performance through collective effervescence.
